Tips for getting started with a vegan diet
1
Substitute:
Use substitutes to make the change easier
2
Eat enough:
The vegan diet is often healthier and has fewer calories. So make sure you eat enough calories.
3
Don't make it extra difficult for yourself
Don't put pressure on yourself and don't punish yourself if you don't eat something vegan. Just start again from the beginning.
Plant-based vs. animal nutrition

The average consumption of meat today in industrialized countries is around 80 kilograms per person per year, in America it is even 100kg per person and year. Meat usually comes from large livestock farms where animals are not kept in a species-appropriate manner. Cattle, pigs and poultry emit greenhouse gases that contribute significantly to climate degradation. Greenhouse gases are not only produced during husbandry, but also during the production of animal feed. Huge areas of land are needed. The deforestation and, above all, the utilisation of the land leads to a decline in biodiversity and the destruction of important CO2 reservoirs.

How do I substitute animal-based food products?

Yoghurt
Vegan alternatives to classic yoghurt are plant-based alternatives, e.g. soy, coconut, almond or oat-based yoghurt.

Cream
Many supermarkets already offer a choice of soy, oat or cashew cream.

Cheese
Parmesan cheese made from cashews and walnuts is already available for sprinkling, and nutritional yeast is a good choice for gratinating.
